Abnormal vaginal (or uterine) bleeding can be a serious warning sign of potentially serious medical problems. A careful medical history, examination and diagnostic evaluation is important to make a proper diagnosis so the most appropriate and effective treatment can be developed in cooperation with you. Diagnostic testing including ultrasounds, hysteroscopy and biopsy are performed on-site at Advanced Menstrual Care Center, often on the first day you are seen.
In many cases, another opinion can be informative and reassuring.
Steven W. Tucker, M.D., ACGE, FACOG is Medical Director of Advanced Menstrual Care Center. His general philosophy is to begin with effective and low risk options first. He was an early innovator, researcher and teacher of minimally invasive surgery techniques for women. For decades, many women who have sought a second surgical opinion from him have often discovered other alternatives to their medical problems thereby avoiding the need for surgery or offering a less traumatic solution.
The abnormal Pap smear is a serious gynecologic problem that requires a careful and thorough evaluation. Advanced Menstrual Care Center has a unique video system so that patients can observe the evaluation as it is performed. Dr. Tucker takes this opportunity to teach each patient so she understands her problem, her care. As a result, each woman becomes more involved in her own care.
Severe menstrual pain can affect as many as 40% to 60% of all women, interfering with their work and their social activities. Many women silently suffer since prescription medication often fails them.
The team at Advanced Menstrual Care Center has helped many of these women return to a more satisfying, and productive life with a focused and comprehensive medical plan that has proved effective for many women who formerly suffered for years, even decades.
Painful sex can be particularly debilitating because it affects a woman's relationship with her partner and her self-esteem. The diagnosis of the pain is difficult because the medical history and the physical exam provide few clues to direct treatment options. At Advanced Menstrual Care Center, diagnostic tests important to make a proper diagnosis are performed in the office. A particularly valuable test is the pelvic ultrasound. This test is often performed by Dr. Tucker during the first visit, while the patient watches, thereby improving the speed of care and your understanding of it.
There are many, many causes of chronic pelvic pain. Establishing a correct diagnosis is the first step in determining the most appropriate treatment.
At Advanced Menstrual Care Center, you care is not rushed. Your visit is not limited to just 10 minutes.
At Advanced Menstrual Care Center, we believe that taking the time to listen to your problems and how it impacts your life is the most effective way to begin helping you with the problem
Uterine fibroids occur in up to 70% of all women. Fortunately, most women do not have any problems with their fibroids. These women do not need treatment, other than close observation to monitor for fibroid growth.
However, 20% of women may have problems with pelvic pain, excessive enlargement and abnormal bleeding. With in-office ultrasound and hysteroscopy, Dr. Tucker can provide a comprehensive evaluation of fibroids and provide treatment options that best suits your needs and future plans.
The primary function of the ovary is to grow eggs that may be fertilized. This process of egg growth is intimately tied to the production of the female hormones estrogen and progesterone and the menstrual cycle.
As the egg develops, it grows in a fluid-filled structure called a follicle. In the middle of a cycle, ovulation occurs and the egg is released.
The vast majority of ovarian cysts occur as a result of the normal process of the growth and development of an egg. These cysts do not require treatment but they can take 3 months or more to disappear.
The only way to monitor these cysts and to make certain they are not confused with tumors of the ovary, pelvic ultrasound is required. At Advanced Menstrual Care Center, Dr. Tucker will perform your ultrasound while you watch on a TV monitor and he explains the ultrasound findings. This unique process at Advanced Menstrual Care Center helps you to understand your problem and provides reassurance.
By providing important diagnostic clinical tools such as ultrasound, hysteroscopy and colposcopy in the office, women with health problems requiring these tests can have them performed more conveniently and much more quickly. Further, at Advanced Menstrual Care Center, these tests are performed using a TV monitor so you can observe the test while it is being performed. Dr. Tucker is a good teacher and in so doing, you have a much deeper understanding of your anatomy, your health and your treatment.

If "A picture is worth a thousand words," then video must be worth a million words.
At Advanced Menstrual Care Center, videos are available for most procedures.
If you have an abnormal Pap smear and need a colposcopy test to look for possible precancer, you will be able to see what Dr. Tucker sees, and he explains to you what colposcopy is, how it is helpful to your care, what he sees and what it means. You not only have the colposcopy, you leave understanding what the test is, what was found and how it impacts your care. Instead of being told what was found, you have seen what was found. You understand those findings and you understand what must be done to improve your health!
These video systems have the same benefits for ultrasound exams and hysteroscopy for the evaluation of abnormal bleeding.
These video systems allow you to see your own anatomy, understand your anatomy and improve your understanding of your health, all in living color!
Pelvic ultrasonography is one of the most valuable tools for the evaluation of GYN problems including menstrual bleeding problems. In the vast majority of cases, the GYN doctor orders an ultrasound then it is performed by a separate person, usually at a different location.
At Advanced Menstrual Care Center, Dr. Tucker performs the ultrasound himself. At the very first visit, Dr. Tucker can effectively integrate your history, your exam and the ultrasound findings into a plan for your care. Contrast this immediacy and integration at Advanced Menstrual Care Center with the usual process of a referral to a radiology center, with a return visit several weeks later, to your GYN where a written report of the ultrasound is reviewed.
At Advanced Menstrual Care Center, we believe that old saying that "A picture is worth a 1000 words." Better still, video is worth a million words!
At Advanced Menstrual Care Center, while you are having an ultrasound you will be watching the images on a TV monitor. As he performs the ultrasound, Dr. Tucker reviews the images with you and discusses how those images impacts his decision-making and recommendations for your care.
Hysteroscopy is one of the most important tools doctors use to diagnose the cause of abnormal menstrual bleeding.
Hysteroscopy is usually performed by a gyn doctor in a surgery center or hospital under general anesthesia.
At Advanced Menstrual Care Center, hysteroscopy is performed on a regular basis in the office without general anesthesia and with an immediate return to normal activity. In many cases, the team at Advanced Menstrual Care Center can diagnose your menstrual bleeding problems with a complete examination, ultrasound and hysteroscopy at your very first visit!
